Photo Books

Now and again I am asked to try something to review. This time it was a photo book from Saal Digital. A few of my cake smash customers like to buy these as a lasting memory of their child's special day so I am always on the look out for another quality supplier.

The creating and editing software is easy to use and you can upload predesigned pages created in Photoshop or use their design templates. Normally I would create in Photoshop first and then upload the designs but Saal Digital's drag and drop interface was relatively straightforward once I had found my way around it so I was able to design straight into the book.

There are many different designs to choose from, hard photo cover, soft cover, leatherette, padded, and a few different shapes and sizes. For the review, I created a 19cm x 19cm padded hard photo cover with 30 pages.

A few days after ordering, and the book is in my hands; a quick no nonsense printing and despatch process that went seamlessly. I had used photos with strong colours and I am not disappointed with the quality nor accuracy of the colours - they are spot on. The book feels great and as I go through it, the photo quality printing and semi-sturdy pages are impressive.  The layflat design is good and the centre crease is quite minimal compared to others I have seen.

Could the book be improved? Personally I would have liked to see start and end leaf pages, as to me those start and finish a book with a flourish. However this doesn't detract from the fact that Saal Digital  have created a great little book that my clients love!
