A Time To Reflect...

christmas mini sessions 2016

Hmm..yes it's the dreaded CHRISTMAS word again......in September...yes it's early.....

Mentioning Christmas in our house was always forbidden until early December when it was allowed to be thought and talked about. I detested all the 4 months of run up to what is, essentially, one day to celebrate. Starting up in business, and offering Christmas-themed mini sessions, made me realise how much earlier you actually did need to prepare for the season. There's buying backdrops and props and dealing with all the bookings, shooting the sessions and getting all the editing done and digital images, prints and cards out to everyone so they can start to plan their Christmas!

For a lot of people these days, Christmas doesn't have many religious connotations, but we embrace this family time together, sharing gifts, seeing relatives that we don't have time to meet all year, getting dressed up and letting our hair down, eating too much and flopping in front of the tv, then trying not to watch the cliches all over again on our favourite soaps. It's a time marker on your year, an opposite end to the summer sun, and is often a time to reflect, to think about how old our children were last year, whether Grandad was with us then, or if this year is your baby's first ever Christmas.

This year is the fifth year doing Christmas themed mini sessions. I have regular clients who don't have photographs taken through the year but have been back to have Christmas ones done time and time again, as a way of creating a year-on-year record of their children growing up.  It is such a pleasure to see them again, see how their children have grown since last year, meet their child's new sibling, and capture another Christmas memory. Many clients make their own Christmas cards from our photos or purchase packs of A5 personalised cards from us. You can also buy lab quality mounted prints - now that is a Christmas gift for their grandparents sorted!

This year we're getting back to a traditional Christmas fireside setting. I have three children coming along this weekend to model for me so I have some photos to show you all the backdrop that will be used when you book this year. So whether it's your first time having photos done, or you're one of my regular clients that I can't wait to meet again....look out for our Christmas advert in a week's time when we'll be launching the booking of slots. As a warning, these will be held on the weekends of 5/6th November and 12/13th November this year so grab your Christmas sweaters, PJs or onesies and get ready.....
